About Us – The Pigeon Hill Effect
What is going on here?
Welcome to the Pigeon Hill Effect! We are glad to see you found us! What are we about? Simply, we are a small group of journalist who want to enjoy writing local interest stories about West Michigan as a not for profit media outlet. Amazing right, we are not trying to sell you anything! We will be under construction through April 15th so please be patient with us. We are primarily a Blog that will post our stories in that type of format. Subjects to be People, Places, Things and History along with some regular columns that we hope you will come to enjoy. Lastly, we will give you, the reader, space to comment on how we are doing, a community events bulletin board (prioritized by upcoming dates – email us at [email protected]), and a media gallery we can post media from you and cool stuff we might get lucky enough to come across in our trekking about.
Our Mission: We will be writing content about West Michigan. Our Blog Post will be in an easy to read format of Who, What , Why, Where, When, How if known, and points of view if it’s that type of story. We will do our best to not sell opinions, just report known facts and let you decide. Yes, we are aware this will be a rather rare thing.
What is the deal with the name “The Pigeon Hill Effect”?
A little strange? Yes, but it’s catchy don’t you think! At first we tried a name like West Michigan News but it was much too mundane and probably already used somewhere else. So we kicked around some other ideas. We wanted something different. Then, our acting President of Operations (What can we say, she drew the unlucky short straw!), blurted it out “The Pigeon Hill Effect”! I laughed so hard, tears rolling down my cheeks! It was a moment of genius, Ren gets the nod on that one! We were aware of the now extinct Pigeon Hill but really didn’t know the history or where it had been. We do now! You will see a pretty complete story on it’s history in an upcoming post. It only seemed fitting we do one of our first post on the name sake. Shout out to Pigeon Hill Brewery, they have done a very nice short history on the Hill.
